The first place my eye was drawn to was the phonograph on the stand. Its bright red color and off center position made me look there first when I noticed the train passing by in the back as well. In the cast of character there is a girl along with some owls. They are beautiful, majestic, and taking flight around the open space of the structure of a house. I noticed that the little girls shadow has the shape of wings instead of arms and that she is holding a mask in her hands as she gazes at the passing train. This makes me think that she wants to take flight and leave the empty place she is in no longer hiding herself away from the adventures that could await. She wants to be as free as the owls are and yet it feels as if something is keeping her there. Looking further, theres an owl further out as if beckoning her to come along. The phonograph is the brightest image in the picture which makes me wonder what she was listening to, maybe something to stroke her imagination of the world outside of her three, maybe four walls. This photo is reading to me as a phrase “the sky is the limit” as there is also no ceiling over her.
